Called to ask how to run a cable for something simple, guy said it was too simple for him to bother with and taught me how to install a cheap solution myself. He didn't try to sell me on a more expensive high tech solution like he could have so if I ever DO need a more expensive high tech solution The Stereo Shop is my spot :)

Great service from great people. I had 5 items repaired at fair prices with wonderful service and in a timely manner. Great place to check out. Old school meets modern. Best of both worlds.

10000/10 - the were able to fix a broken tape that was of sentimental value to my family. They were able to offer a same day appointment and were patient and professional. They fixed it that day and we are genuinely so grateful. I would 100% trust them with any of our future needs.

Both wonderfully amazed and surprised to find this jewel of a Stereo Shop in the center of Connecticut! One of my turntables broke, and the manufacturer suggested a place next to Park Avenue in Manhattan, and as I had business an hour away from Hartford, I made the pilgrimage! I’d rather give my business to a small business owner than to pay someone’s rent on Park Avenue. The whole vibe of the place is both warm and unique. Nestled in an old house in a Hartford neighborhood once you enter however it is all modern but yet welcoming. The tour de force is Dave the owner who’s a young hip guy and Rich Who’s been working on Stereo equipment since the 1960s. He’s sharp as a tack, friendly and defines the word knowledgeable. Dave is also extremely knowledgeable and you get the sense that he has a real passion for what he’s doing and is proud of his shop. He spent a lot of time with me and was happy to chat about stuff like the old tube amps I had when I was a kid and the new amazing technology used in making modern speakers, streamers, CD players and amps. Dave is the perfect salesman. Rather than using high pressure tactics or turning his back on you to check his phone; he relies on his knowledge and his personality resulting in the customer liking him. So who do you want to buy something from? Correct answer; someone you like. And finally a word about supporting the small business owner. I’m guilty of buying things Online and in some cases, it’s OK. However, with Stereo equipment you really need to listen, and you really need to learn both of which you can do at the Stereo Shop. Can’t wait to go back . I’m buying some speakers from them that simply blew me away and were surprisingly affordable for a high end speaker made in Italy! Photo of Rich’s work space.

This place is a treasure for those who appreciate high-quality audio! The sales staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their product offerings. The service technician is expert at his craft and ready to provide information, instruction, and advice. The recommended cartridge transformed the sound of my system! Thanks so much, Rick and Rich! May this rare find long prosper.

Unusually good customer service. My new speakers were delivered to my home AND setup to perfection taking almost two hours time. Rick and Jim did all the heavy lifting going up one flight of stairs. All the unboxing, wiring, etc as I observed and " supervised". I stand impressed.

I reached out to The Stereo Shop after experiencing some difficulties with my McIntosh C2300 pre-amplifier; the volume knob needed to be replaced and the output of the left channel was low. When I brought the pre-amp into the shop I was greeted warmly by Rick and Richie. FYI - Rick runs the front of the house and Richie does the diagnostic and repair work. Both guys are extremely friendly and super knowledgeable. Richie has been repairing high end audio equipment for over 50 years! That said, I thought I was just going to drop off the pre-amp and fill out some paperwork but Richie had my pre-amp up on the test bench moments after my arrival. It was immediately evident that the volume knob did not work but for some odd reason the left output channel tested fine. In the end we agreed that Richie would replace the volume knob and I would re-check the remainder of my sound system when I got back home. A few weeks later I picked up the pre-amp and brought it back to Boston. It was great to have a working volume knob but sadly the left output channel was low again. When I called Richie, he told me to bring it back and let him have another look. This time the output of the left channel did test low and Richie promised to fix it. Long story short, it's very difficult to troubleshoot an intermittent audio problem and whenever I would call for an update Richie would tell me that he was still bird-dogging the problem. FYI - as a broadcast audio engineer for the last 30 years I've had plenty of experience with intermittent sound issues and so at the end of every call I always wished Richie luck and told him that I had faith in his many years of experience. I also placed a call to McIntosh Labs to see if they had any experience with my particular problem - the left channel was low in stereo and fine in mono - and they put me in touch with their senior west coast repair specialist Ron Cornelius. After hearing about the troubleshooting issues, Ron suggested I bring the pre-amp

I cant mention my company, its a Brewery in Boston with a Vinyl room, our McIntosh C6 died, the heart of our Vinyl room. You cant get this type a service from a big box store or some online store. These guys are professional, super knowledgeable friendly and unassuming. I was so glad they were still up and as I had last used them 20 odd years ago when they fixed my C34V and 2 MC275's that still sound like they did when they rolled off the assembly line.

Have been using "The Stereo Shop" for my audio purchases for quite some time. Was looking to replace my 40 year old speakers and was pleased that they had the Klipsch Heresy IV available to demo, along with other solid options. Dave did a nice job and even had them downstairs to accommodate my recent hip surgery. Purchased them that day and Rick delivered them and set them up for no additional charge. Excellent equipment, salesmanship and customer service. Highly recommended for all your stereo needs!

I brought my turntable for a new cartridge and expert setup. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly and it was a pleasure to find a resource like this so close to home. They have a great stock of high end equipment and the knowledge to go with it. Just as important, they care about the music. My table sounds great and I know where to go when I need advice and service. A really great group of people and well worth the trip from Northampton.
